2007 - Best year in company’s history
POG Präzisionsoptik Gera GmbH with positive annual balance: continuous growth and new capabilities for optical systems
POG Präzisionsoptik Gera GmbH, Germany, realised a turnover of more than 10,5 million US$ over the past fiscal year 2007. This corresponds to an increase of almost 10%.
„Therewith, 2007 is once again the most successful year in the 16 years of our company’s history.", said Manfred Schubach, the Managing Director.
A major investment project was realised in the cause of the year. Almost two million US$ were spent in new CNC controlled equipment for the production of precision optical components and for a new assembly department for optical systems in a class 1000 clean room environment. Production capacities were extended and new, higher requirements of a growing number of customers from semiconductor industry, machine vision, and aerospace and defence can be accomplished.
„For 2008 order inflow and order balance are on a high level - we intend to continue our successful growth especially in the field of optical systems and in our special area of expertise – the production of optical microstructures.” said Manfred Schubach. The next investment project in that field is already in progress: the optimization of the production of especially small and demanding microstructures for microscopy and medical technology, machine vision, and sports optics. |

Microstructures made from CERAN ® & ROBAX ® glass ceramics
POG offers stage micrometers and custom microstructures made from CERAN ® & ROBAX ® glass ceramics.
CERAN ® and ROBAX ®feature, like ZERODUR ®, a high mechanical stability and a thermal expansion of virtually zero.
The engraved serial number and the optional available official DKD certification make it an ideal calibrated measurement equipment.
Due to the high contrast of the high reflective chrome structures on the dark CERAN ® background these stage micrometers are in particular suitable for applications in reflected light. ROBAX has virtually similar specifications but a higher transmission in the visible range and is therefore applicable for throughlight applications.
Three different versions – 1mm in 100 divisions, 2mm in 200 divisions & 70mm with 4different divisions (see picture) especially designed for stereo microscopes are standard products available from stock.
Other microstructures – scales, calibration targets -on CERAN ® substrates in different dimension can be designed and produced according to individual specifications. |

2006 - Best year in company’s history
POG Präzisionsoptik Gera with positive annual balance: Rising turnover and new investments
POG Präzisionsoptik Gera GmbH, Germany, realised a turnover of around 8.5 million US$ over
the past fiscal year 2006. This corresponds to an increase of more than 25%.
„Therewith, 2006 is the most successful year in the 15 years of our company’s history. ", said
Manfred Schubach, the Managing Director. Above all, the sales abroad have performed very well
and have risen by 50%. Currently, export sales make up nearly 50% of the firm’s total sales
volume. Important partners are companies in Italy, Norway, Switzerland and the United States.
Nearly a third of the turnover and a large part of growth were realized in the key areas of complex
optical systems produced for demanding applications in machine vision and metrology in the
semiconductor and aerospace and defence industries.
The very good market share in the field of optical microstructures could be extended with new
customers e.g. in microscopy or medical technology.
As a result of the encouraging development, six new employees were hired over the year, two of
them in R&D projects. Therewith, POG has a total of 90 employees.
„Also in 2007, we intend to continue our successful growth. We already started new investments of
around 1.7 million US$ in modernization and expansion of our lens and prism manufacturing. This
will also provide the basis for future demanding projects in the custom optical systems market” said
Manfred Schubach.
